Sixth Form

Described by Ofsted as ‘the jewel in the crown of the school’, the Sixth Form at Old Swinford Hospital accounts for a significant number of our students. They are expected to set standards in behaviour, presentation and achievement and are encouraged to assume greater responsibilities within their House and the school as a whole. In addition, they have greater freedom to manage their own time.

Four AS Levels are studied in Year 12, reducing to three A Levels in Year 13. Some 95% of students go directly to university and much of their time in the Sixth Form is spent preparing for this step.

By the time they leave, many will have excelled in leadership roles but all will have made their mark, be it academically, in the sporting arena, the performing stage or beyond.
