The first steps

For many children and their parents, the first term at Old Swinford Hospital marks the beginning of a new way of life. Every effort is made to ensure that the adjustment is managed sensitively, with support available to all parties at every stage.

Boys joining the school in Year 7 may flexi-board to ease the transition into boarding life. They can go home, if they wish, on Wednesday evening, returning on Thursday morning.

Inductions

An induction morning takes place in June for all new students and their families. A programme of fun-filled activities gives the boys an opportunity to get to know each other before September. Parents (and any other family members) meet the staff who will be looking after their son and get to know the school a little better.

Sixth Formers have their own Induction Programme at the beginning of term.
