The benefits to you
The traditional boarding structure of Old Swinford Hospital brings many benefits to our students, but also to their parents and family life in general.
Value in education
As a state boarding school, parents pay only for the accommodation and supervision of their children at Old Swinford Hospital, with educational costs met by the Local Authority. With support from the government and the trustees, the school continues to make huge strides and offers the quality of education and facilities more often associated with independent schools – at a fraction of
the cost.
Keeping in touch
Open lines of communication are maintained between the House and parents who remain active partners in their child’s education and development. Both Housemaster and Matron are on hand to deal with issues and queries as they arise, while most boys now have access to a mobile phone, for direct parental contact at permitted times of the day.
Quality time
Parents often work long hours and find it increasingly difficult to juggle the demands of busy careers and family life.
While many of our students stay on for school matches or head off for organised weekend activities, it’s good to know that when they come home, they can do so free of after-school commitments, allowing you to relax in the knowledge that your time can be spent together as a family.
Seeing the benefits
Boarding Houses are safe, secure environments where boys observe rules and standards. Under the watchful eye of both Housemaster and Matron, cleanliness and presentation are paramount. Many parents appreciate the transferable benefits of House life when their children return home.
